The Montana Named One of Calgary's MIllion Dollar Condos

Calgary’s million-dollar condos

Cowtown may as well be Cashtown with its wealth of ultra luxury condos

Sotheby’s International Realty Canada’s sales director, Julie Dempsey, says Calgary offers a diverse and active real estate market with varying types of homes available in many different locations.

“And, if I had a million dollars and was spending at that level, there is a broad range of home choices. The market conditions are favourable for buying. There is a good choice of product, the economy is improving (GDP in Alberta is projected to grow at 4.3 per cent this year) and prices have corrected as a result of the recession. Now, as the market improves, we expect a firming in price followed by the inevitable price rise. The time to buy is before market prices start to rise more quickly,” she tells Condo Living.

“Homes in the upper end of the market are selling quite actively right now. At Sotheby’s International Realty Canada we have been very pleased with our ability to gain listings in the million-dollar-plus market and undertake trades at those levels. It tells us that those in the upper end of the market have confidence in Calgary and that are timing in entering the Calgary market has been very good.”

Here are some choice condos that will make us all wish we had a million dollars — although you probably need more for some of them.

It feels like every room in Montana’s 2,511-square-foot penthouse suite has a “wow” moment, and it even has four decks where owners can enjoy the bejeweled spectacle of a vibrant city at night, or the majesty of the nearby Rockies at sunrise. You get a 180-degree view of the surroundings, the cityscape, the southern Alberta prairies and the Canadian Rockies, it’s a priceless picture of serenity and calm. It has a price to match, with Suite 2500 (the Nellie) valued at a cool $2.1 million.
